Betty Kyle
Hello, my name is Betty Kyle, and I am a doctoral student in School and Behavioral Psychology. In 2007, my work as a sign language interpreter required me to travel to Germany with a deaf student participating in the study abroad program. I was more than a little irritated by having to give up plans that I had made for my vacation time in order to work, but when I got to Germany, I found it to be one of the most fascinating places I had ever seen—a mixture of the medieval and the modern—and I decided that I would return there to learn more. Upon returning to SFA, I enrolled in German, so that when I did have the opportunity to return, I would be able to get around more easily without having to depend on the kindness of strangers who spoke English. I am looking forward to getting to develop a greater understanding of the culture and politics of one of the most important economic powers in Europe, and the world.
